Decorative stone is a natural stone which is turned and cut in a determined size. In the broad sense of the word, the term of Decorative Stone contains all shapes of the stones which is used directly in the internal and outer facade of the building after cutting, rubbing, and polishing. From the petrological point of view, the Decorative Stones belong to one of the groups of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks and contain Onyx, Marble, Crystal (Chini Stone), Conglomerate, Travertine, Sand Stone, Granite, Gheychi Stone (Scissors Stone), Diorite, Syenite, Gabbro, and etc.

What is Guillotine or Gheychi (Scissors) Stone?

Guillotine or Gheychi (Scissors) Stone belongs to decorative and antique stones which is produced from the fragments of Travertine, Marble, and Onyx with a variety of colors and designs.

The natural Guillotine antique stone is produced with the picking of the fragments and broken pieces (Wastes and gang Travertine) beside each other and sticking of them with using resin based mortar. On the other word, it is made from the combination of wastes and gangs of Travertine mixed with other additions.

The stony profiles with cubic shapes are split longitudinally to two parts under the sharp razor of the machine.

The outer surface is smooth and is used in order to stick by glue and the internal part which is in the natural form is used as the internal and outer facade of the building.

The idea of antique stones producing came from the feelings of designers and architects to the beautification of the buildings both in outer and internal spaces of the buildings, floor coverings, and exterior landscaping, need to the stones having their desirable parameters. In addition, the developments of construction industry and variety of desires, demand the accessibility of stones with different patterns, physical and mechanical factors, and suitable prices.

The Gheychi (Scissors) Stone is prepared in the stone cutting factory in 10, 3-4, and 1.5 cm length, width, and thickness, respectively. This stone may be used with length of more than 10 cm. The angles of this stone are 90 degree and its surfaces (the parts which are seen in the facade) have irregular reliefs. It is worth to note that this stone is installed without hanging to the wall and the backside of the stone is filled by slurry.

It is usual to use one type of Gheychi (Scissors) Stone in the facade (unicolor facade) but it is possible to create a beautiful facade using a combination of different colors. These facades got dirty soon because of dust, smoke, and air pollutions and should be cleaned regularly.
